Night Images on Tischer Creek
Duluth, Minnesota
I've always wanted to try to take long
time-exposure images of a woodland stream at night. So
now I have, and they turned out pretty much how I expected
them to. This was my first experiment, and looking at
the images and the exposure levels, you can expect to
see more of these images as I refine my skill. These were
taken at dusk and into near pitch dark until 8:30pm. I
had to add some fill light and open the shutter for up
to two minute exposures for the last few in this sequence.

These
last two, above and left, were taken when it was
near pitch dark. The above photo was exposed for
70 seconds, and the one at left was exposed for
125 seconds, both at f/11 to keep everything in
focus. I added some extra light during the long
exposures, but only for about 15 seconds on the
above image and 8 seconds or less on the one at
left.
